Half-Birthday and This and That

7/3/2013

Today is my half-birthday. Since the real one falls two days after New Year's when no one wants to celebrate anything, including me, I like to observe this one. No one else celebrates it either, but I do.

Finally a big camping trip in the works. We will spend the holiday at Johnson Sauk Trail Recreation Area near Kewanee in Illinois, along with our grandson Steven and oldest son Andy and his family. Since this group includes a 13, 11, and 9-year old, we are well supplied with water balloons, squirt guns, marshmallow guns, sky lanterns and the fixings for s'mores and root beer floats. And if Grandpa doesn't find the pump for the inflatable canoe, he's in big trouble.

Two items regarding my books: I want to thank Cindy Hamilton for the great review of The Blue Coyote on her book blog! http://abookaholicblog.typepad.com/ Reviews are so important for a book and each one is greatly appreciated.

Also the Giveaway on Goodreads has one more week to run PLUS you can win one of four signed copies right here on this website at

Don't miss out! And have a great Fourth of July!

I didn't know we had this in common! (the half-birthday thing, that is). We always celebrated half birthdays growing up. We didn't do presents, or a big party, but my my mom would fix half a cake and we'd sing. Happy Half-Birthday! And Happy Camping!

Having a half birthday is just the thing to do when the big attraction is foreshadowing your day, My half day celebration is June 2; a tiny thing for a tiny day. Someone else celebrated his birthday the entire month of September, with cards and mementos expected every day. So it was easy to have just one tiny day, and delicious fun for the bit that it occurred. So....celebrate with great abandon, enjoy the campers and revelers, pat the calendar and shine.
